QA Speech to Text Audio Collection Project

About the Role

TELUS Digital is seeking quality assurance specialists to participate in a Speech-to-Text (STT) audio data quality verification project. Participants will review recorded audio files, verify their alignment with provided scripts, assess audio quality standards, and identify files that require re-recording.

The Primary Objective

The primary objective of this project is to ensure the integrity and quality of audio recordings collected for speech recognition model training. Your work ensures that only high-quality, verified audio data is used to develop speech recognition technology that accurately understands and processes natural Malaysian English speech. The audio files you validate, combined with their corresponding scripts, form the training foundation for advanced speech recognition systems.

Your Role as a Script QA Specialist

During your quality assurance reviews through our GTS platform, you will:

• Listen to recorded audio files and evaluate them against technical and linguistic specifications
• Verify that audio content accurately matches the corresponding script
• Assess overall audio quality for background noise and clarity
• Ensure only a single speaker is present as required
• Validate that file duration falls within the 2-25 second range
• Determine whether files meet quality standards or require re-recording
• Flag files that fail quality standards for contributor re-recording
• Approve files meeting standards for use in model training

Time to Complete the Task

1-40 hours

Location: Remote (work from home)

Qualification path

Payment Rate:

• $6.00 USD per hour for audio QA tasks
• This is an Independent Contractor opportunity.
• Payments will be made via Hyperwallet.

Other Requirements:

• 18+ years of age
• Native speaker of Malay language
• Proficiency in English (including Malay English/Manglish)
• Device capable of playing and assessing audio files (computer, laptop, or high-quality headphones)
• Stable internet connection for the duration of the project
• Strong listening skills and ability to identify audio quality issues
• Ability to assess script-to-audio alignment
• Basic understanding of audio quality standards and file formats
• Ability to communicate technical issues clearly
• Familiarity with GTS platform (preferred; prior audio QA or GTS experience is welcome)
• Prior audio QA or GTS experience is preferred (no formal audio engineering certification required)
