Assembly Coordinator

About the Role

Requirements:
1. Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or any related field
2. Minimum 2-5 years experience in assembly or manufacturing environment
3. Experience in genset, machinery or enclosure assembly is an added advantage
4. Strong understanding of assembly processes and material flow
5. Ability to plan and track long lead time standard parts
6. Basic leadership and people management skills
7. Able to read and interpret drawings, BOMs and work order.
8. Good coordination and communication skills
9. Basic computer skills (Excel, reporting)

Responsibilities:
1. Preparation, Planning & Production Coordination
• Plan and coordinate daily assembly activities based on production schedules and work orders.
• Ensure all preparation activities are completed in advance, including identification, planning, and follow-up of long lead time standard parts.
• Coordinate with purchasing and stores to raise purchase requisitions and track procurement status for long lead time items to prevent production delays.
• Verify material readiness (standard parts, bought-out items, kits) before assembly start.
• Allocate manpower, tools, and materials to assembly lines effectively.
• Monitor production progress and take corrective actions to meet targets.
• Coordinate with fabrication, stores, and logistics to ensure timely material availability.

2. Quality Control
• Ensure assembly work complies with drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Support in-process inspections and address non-conformities.
• Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented for assembly-related issues.

3. Man power & Discipline
• Supervise assembly technicians and ensure proper task assignment.
• Monitor attendance, discipline, punctuality, and productivity.
• Provide on-the-job guidance and basic training to assembly personnel.

4. Safety and Housekeeping
• Enforce safety rules, PPE usage, and safe work practices.
• Maintain good housekeeping (5S) in the assembly area.
• Report, record, and assist in investigation of safety incidents.

5. Documentation & Reporting
• Update daily production and assembly progress reports.
• Maintain preparation checklists, material status records, and inspection documents.
• Highlight risks related to material shortages or long lead time items to the superior early.

6. Coordination & Continuous Improvement
• Liaise with engineering, QA/QC, maintenance, and purchasing for technical or material issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve assembly efficiency and reduce delays.
